Actually I hate moving. But I think I have told you all that about 70 trazillion times. However, I could not get my herhangout layout to show past entries and I noticed that support and updates had fallen the wayside over there at herhangout. I did get an email from Zoot, but her boss has directed her elsewhere for now. So (drumroll please…..) GO HERE

Please, please, please dear new friends update your favorites and your blogroll for me. Thanks!

I was raised on an eclectic mix of music. My parents were goody-goody 50s kids in a ‘hippie’ age, but were susceptible to the lure of ‘rock and roll’. I grew up to The Carpenters, Elton John, The Moody Blues, Carole King, and Elvis. My grandparents always had music on so I also was influenced by Herb Albert and The Tijuana Brass, Frank Sinatra and big band. When I was 11 years old my parents divorced and I got a step-dad. Thus began my Country Music Years. Which coincided with my teenage years = peer pressure = rock and disco (yes I was a skater…man could I skate to Foxy [and that is skate with four wheels]). So it is not odd that I have a great love of all music (except Rap and Opera, neither of which I can stand for more than a few seconds). Mr. Vixen was a strict hard rocker when we met. I met him most the way and many a teenage day was spent with Van Halen, Blue Oyster Cult, Pat Travers, The Outlaws, Lynard Skynard and Black Sabbath. He met me part way and learned about Ohio Players, Supertramp, and Earth Wind & Fire. We were never without music. Never. There was a great laugh at my wedding when our neighbors informed Mr. Vixen that they always knew when he was coming to pick me up because they could hear his car stereo six blocks away.
Now I have a lot of favorite driving songs. A L O T. But seriously, nothing in the world compares to Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. I must turn it on as loud as possible and I must sing along as loud as possible. I am simply compelled. It happened just the other day and probably looked strange: 44yo chick, alone, driving a minivan, with Queen blasting. All the windows down and singing off key as loudly as possible. That is why that scene from Wayne’s World cracked me up when I saw the movie, because that was me, Mr. Vixen and Mr. Vixen’s twin brother (sans the maryjane for me, I am taking the Fifth regarding the twins and maryjane).
So tell me, what is your favorite turn up the volume, blast it out, sing/scream along song for driving?

Thirteen Things about Vixen
|
- I have 5 Chihuahuas, 1 Basset Hound, and 1 Isis (?Akita?, I don’t know, but she is a giant. I also had a lovely Blue Tick/Rhodesian Ridgback who passed a few months ago).
- I seem to collect (attract) lost or needy things: dogs, cats, birds, squirrels, and kids.
- I am ok with the fact that I will never again own my own home.
- I make friends easily.
- I spent several hours yesterday trying to find and complete 13 quizzes for today’s TT and I gave up after 5.
- I made an unbelievably awesome Nectarine Crisp on Tuesday evening and now I am going to have to make another because everyone ate it.
- I keep forgetting to do a post on my crochet projects (one of which I actually finished!).
- I am jealous everyday since we moved to the new homestead of the fact that Mr. Vixen is disabled and gets to stay home everyday. Jealous of being disabled, now that is crazy.
- In my family in every other generation the first born female has had twins as far back as anyone can remember. I am that generation. I married a twin. I did not have twins.
- I really want a nice digital camera, but I can’t stop choosing to feed and house the family instead.
- I am the only person who could always tell my husband apart from his identical twin brother, not even their mother could do that.
- I had two imaginary friends as a child (Odie and Dodie). And an imaginary dog (Tipee).
- I have been chased across Fishing Bridge in Yellowstone by a very angry momma moose.

I come from large, close, Irish, Catholic family. In a family like ours cousins are not distant relatives, be they first or second. They are more like aunts and uncles, best friends, or nieces and nephews depending on your corresponding ages. At least once a year when I was growing up (sometimes more) we would have family reunions. I know a little bit about a lot of them, but I did not know that one of my relatives by marriage was the first American POW to escape a Vietnamese prison camp. I remember meeting him a few times as a young child and, heck, he might have even been at my wedding (there were so many people). I know his brother and my cousin were. At any rate, it is a fascinating story and now it’s become a movie and not just any movie, but one by Werner Herzog and starring Christian Bale. That is just so cool. Check it out. If you go see it, let me know what you think!

You Are a Caramel Crunch Donut
|

You’re a complex creature, and you’re guilty of complicating things for fun.
You’ve been known to sit around pondering the meaning of life…
Or at times, pondering the meaning of your doughnut.
To frost or not to frost? To fill or not to fill? These are your eternal questions.

To Mr. Vixen on your 46th birthday….46 reasons I love you more today than the first day I met you:
- You stopped to see if I was OK when my motorcycle slowly fell over in front of you when I was 13 (even if it was on purpose so you would stop and talk to me).
- You didn’t go out with my friend even though she wanted you to and I was afraid of her and so I didn’t tell you I liked you.
- You would ride your bike all the way to my house on Saturday mornings and slept on my front lawn until I woke up.
- You bought me the most adorable little ring that said LOVE for Christmas when I was 14.
- You taught me how to ride a motorcycle really well.
- You found it cute that I swam like a fish.
- You forgave me after I said (at 15) that we really should see other people (even though I know you burned my picture…we were so mature).
- You tracked me down two years later even after I had moved to my Dad’s in another town.
- You went to my brother’s little league game with my family as our first back-together date, in spite of the fact that you hate baseball, and you didn’t even complain.
- You and my Dad get along like brothers.
- You came to my house every weekend my senior year and played pool with me and my Dad instead of partying with your friends.
- You took me to my first rock concert (and everyone ever since).
- You taught me how to set up a cat fish line.
- You turned your emergency lights on your 18th birthday and disco danced.
- You love my family as much as your own.
- You were my little sister’s hero.
- You made up stories about Geepieland and entertained her for hours.
- You let her sit in the front seat when you were driving and made me sit in the back while you both pretended I was the maid.
- You were my little brother’s hero.
- You taught him to ride motorcycles too.
- You let him tag along with us everywhere.
- You asked my Dad permission to marry me before you proposed.
- You put a washcloth down on the ground and kneeled on it when you proposed to me.
- You got a permanent for our wedding because they were cool, even though you were a very blue jeans & white t-shirt kinda guy and the idea of having curlers in your hair for even five seconds was insanity.
- You looked so handsome on our wedding day.
- You made our honeymoon awesome.
- You love the cabin as much as I do.
- You always supported me in whatever I wanted to do career wise.
- You are a great provider for our family.
- You are the best dad in the entire world
- You gave me the three most beautiful children in the world.
- You are always ready to help my family with anything they need.
- You can fix our cars.
- You can fix just about anything.
- You can build just about anything.
- You are the best grandpa in the world
- You love dogs as much as I do.
- You have always made me laugh and you still do.
- You adore me and make me feel beautiful.
- You are my best friend and are loyal to a fault.
- You never give up.
- You took care of me when Ladybug was in the NICU and were just perfect in every reaction.
- You have a really lovely smile and you share it often.
- You can take my sarcasm and dish it back.
- You spoil me.
- You are my soul mate.
